Note from the Principal.
Sam Vaughn is a Kindergarten through 6th grade elementary school located in the heart of the Central Valley. We serve about 630 students. On our staff we have 25 teachers, all Highly Qualified under NCLB and certified to teach non-native English speakers. At Sam Vaughn, we are committed to helping every child grow to reach his or her greatest potential.
For the 2011-2012 school year, there is a big change in the morning. We will serve free breakfast to every student, every day! Students may arrive at school at 7:45 AM, and all students need to go directly to the cafeteria. Supervisors will dismiss students to the playground only after they have come through the cafeteria. As our families know from previous years, a purple Home-School Communication folder comes home with your students every Tuesday. We recognize that we send home a lot of paper! In an effort to assist families with tracking all the school information you will notice that we’ve added a tab to the left titled “Backpack.” Clicking on the Backpack tab will take you to copies of all notices we send home. Check it often to stay up to date. Also, beginning in September, Sam Vaughn will host a series of classes through the Parent Institute for Quality Education. We will have sessions in English and in Spanish. The PIQE program does an excellent job of showing parents how best to support and advocate for their students and play active roles in their children’s education. Class dates and registration information will be sent home soon. Please join us most Fridays at 8:15 for our weekly Jamboree assemblies and class performances. Check out our SV Families group to find out how you can support our school activities such as our upcoming jog-a-thon, annual Fall Festival, and Family Valentine’s Dance. Looking forward to another year in partnership,
